Water Safety: Self Rescue Techniques for Pilots (DRY Course)

This is a very dry and shortened version (4 hrs.) of our successful water safety training course for aviators:

Self-Rescue for Pilots

Flying a coastal route or going offshore with an aircraft requires a little bit more in planning and preparation of the particular flight or portion thereof. Many pilots and their passengers are not fully aware of some challenges an ocean can bear. Ditching an aircraft is a rare occasion, but like all six numbers in Mega Millions, it can happen to you!

With simple steps and smart flight planning you can prepare your aircraft, your crew and passengers:

  • Requirements for flying over water (pilot and equipment);
  • How to brief your passengers;
  • Emergency Decision Making
  • Ditching an airplane on water – techniques;
  • Evacuate a ditched aircraft
  • Emergency egress;
  • Survival swim skills;
  • USCG: What to expect getting rescued (USCG representative)
  • Emergency Equipment and its use
  • ELT, PLB, EPIRPS
  • Psychological and medical factors for surviving

Within a couple of group exercises (a.k.a. crash-teams) you’ll learn overcome limited resources, using time and techniques to successfully overcome stress situations over open waters.

Duration: 4 hours (incl. breaks)

Although this course is packed with information, it is only scratching the surface of in-depth subjects. If you decide to join one of our all-day water safety classes for pilots you’ll receive a discount of 50% in the amount of your fee of this workshop.

Complementary refreshments and snacks provided.
